Grid one covers the north end of Baldock bypass where the single carriageway A505, Royston Road, currently joins the existing dual carriageway that takes you towards Ashwell, Royston and Cambridge.

In grid one of our map the new dual carriageway section will be built over the existing single carriageway before parting with the existing A505 to start it's journey around Baldock.

The only complication is that the new carriageway lanes clip the existing road meaning it is not as easy as building the new carriageway, redirecting the traffic and then replacing the old carriageway. Plus you must not forget that the new dual carriageway is likely to be at a different level to the existing road.

We will watch with interest as work progresses while this section is completely replaced and every effort is made to keep traffic moving.
