Ashwell
Year Book 2002
Welcome
to the 2002 edition of the Ashwell Yearbook 2001 was a year that many would like to forget. Foot and Mouth restrictions
made a large difference to the way the countryside worked and played.
Then the fearful attacks in the USA in September. 2002 will see the Queen’s
Golden Jubilee and let us hope it will be a golden year for Ashwell.
My thanks as always to Norman, Judy and Malcolm for their work in producing
this fine publication.
Fergus Moynihan Chairman, Ashwell Parish Council
EDITORIAL
We hope you will find this an interesting issue, the fourteenth incidentally,
with more photographs than ever, more poetry, more news of Ashwell people
and the Classified Directory revised.
More and more of our contributors are using e-mail facilities and David
Short has contributed a useful article listing some of the websites applicable
to Ashwell.
2001 has seen some disappointments, the biggest for many being the abandonment
of the Community Centre Project. However, we shall continue to profit
from the opening of the Museum Extension, with especial congratulations
to our honorary Curator, Peter Greener and his hardworking helpers. We
delight in the fact that our County Councillor, Ian Simpson, is an Ashwell
resident.
We thank all those who have contributed photographs. It is a pity we
cannot use them all, but hopefully you will enjoy the selection. Apologies
to anyone whose published photograph has not been properly acknowledged.
Our warm thanks to our advertisers,
old and new, without whose support the scope and quality of this publication
would be unattainable. |
